Team India’s Asia Cup 2023 journey will begin with a match against Pakistan in Pallekele this Saturday. Virat Kohli, India’s experienced batsman, is just 102 runs short of becoming the quickest player to achieve 13,000 runs in one-day international cricket. At the age of 34, Kohli is renowned for his expertise in chasing targets in the ODI format.

He has accumulated a remarkable total of 12,898 runs in 275 matches, maintaining an average of 57.32 and a striking rate of 93.62, including an impressive 46 centuries and 65 half-centuries. Kohli has participated in 265 ODI innings and is poised to claim the title of the fastest player to reach the 13,000-run milestone.

The existing record for the quickest 13,000 runs in one-day cricket, in terms of innings, is held by the Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved this feat in 321 innings during his captaincy. After Tendulkar, the list includes the Australian legend Ricky Ponting (341), as well as the former Sri Lankan captains Kumar Sangakkara (363) and Sanath Jayasuriya (416) on this prestigious record.

In the world of one-day cricket, Kohli stands at the fifth spot for the highest run-scorers. The only players who have outscored him are Tendulkar (18,426), Sangakkara (14,234), Ponting (13,704), and Jayasuriya (13,430).

At 34 years old, Kohli occupies the fifth position among the distinguished group of batters with the highest runs in international cricket. His total stands at 25,582 runs. Ahead of him on this list are Tendulkar (34,357), Sangakkara (28,016), Ponting (27,483), and Mahela Jayawardene (25,957).

Rohit is on track to become the second-fastest player to reach the 10,000 ODI runs club, with Kohli holding the current record at 205 innings. Rohit has participated in 237 innings and has a good chance of surpassing Tendulkar, who took 259 innings to achieve the same milestone.
