The Indian Cricket Team got a major boost as their star batter KL Rahul will be flying to Sri Lanka for the Super 4 stage after the National Cricket Academy gave clearance. Before departing, the Indian head coach said that he would miss the first two matches against Pakistan and Nepal.

It was a disappointing end to high voltage clash between India and Pakistan as the match was cancelled. Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill fell cheaply leaving Men in Blue struggling at 66 for 4. Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan stitched a 138-run partnership for the 5th wicket that helped India to recover. After their dismissal, India lost wickets in a heap before Jasprit Bumrah added 16 runs as they were bowled out for 266 in 48.5 overs.

The match could not start due to heavy rains. India and Pakistan were awarded one point each. With this 1 point, Pakistan qualified for the Super 4 stage. The Indian team now will face Nepal in the last group game to be played tomorrow and rain is predicted for tomorrow’s match.

The Indian team is likely to qualify for the Super 4 stage if the match gets abandoned or India wins the match. They will face arch-rivals Pakistan again on 10th September 2023 at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

India will qualify for the Super 4 stage and the interesting question remains who gets the chance if KL Rahul makes it into the playing XI? Shreyas Iyer made a decent comeback in ODI cricket with some lovely shots against Haris Rauf before providing an easy catch to Fakhar Zaman.

Rohit Sharma-led side would look to iron out their flaws against Nepal in Kandy before they face Pakistan in their first Super 4 match. KL Rahul injured himself while fielding against Royal Challengers Bangalore before he was ruled out of the IPL. He missed a lot of cricket and would look to prove himself if he gets a chance to play XI.
