Jasprit Bumrah encountered a significant injury fright during the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 showdown involving India and Sri Lanka. During the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 clash between India and Sri Lanka, Jasprit Bumrah experienced a significant injury scare on Tuesday.
Bumrah had previously suffered a back injury in September 2022, causing him to miss the T20 World Cup and the Indian Premier League while undergoing rehabilitation. His return occurred in the T20I series against Ireland, and he’s expected to be a crucial asset in the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023.
Indian cricket fans grew anxious when Bumrah appeared to twist his ankle while bowling against Sri Lanka. He landed awkwardly during the follow-through after delivering the ball. Fortunately, there was minimal cause for concern as he returned to complete his bowling spell and subsequently dismissed Pathum Nissanka in his next over.

In the same match, Sri Lankan bowlers Dunith Wellalage and part-time spinner Charith Asalanka effectively entangled the Indian batsmen on a turning pitch. They limited India to a below-par total of 213 in their Asia Cup Super 4 encounter. The 20-year-old left-arm spinner Wellalage (5/40) and off-spinner Asalanka (4/18) sliced through the formidable Indian batting lineup after India chose to bat first.
However, prior to the spinners taking advantage of the significant turn and grip on the Premadasa pitch, India initiated their innings in a scorching manner. Rohit Sharma, contributing 53 runs from 48 balls, partnered with Shubman Gill (19) to accumulate 80 runs for the opening wicket, which was the most promising phase of India’s innings.
Observing Rohit and Gill amassing those runs in just 12 overs brought back memories of India’s formidable performance against Pakistan on Monday when they posted an imposing total of 356 for two. Furthermore, during his innings, the Indian captain achieved a significant personal milestone by becoming the sixth Indian batsman to surpass the 10,000-run mark in ODIs.
