Asia Cup 2023: [WATCH] Rohit Sharma Angrily Watches Hardik, Kishan, And Gill’s Sloppy Fielding

Rohit Sharma expresses dissatisfaction with India’s disappointing performance against Nepal in their Asia Cup Group A match. On Monday, India secured a 10-wicket victory over Nepal, securing their spot in the Super-4 stage of the 2023 Asia Cup.

However, despite their flawless batting, their performance with the ball and in the field left much to be desired, as highlighted by Captain Rohit Sharma. India’s start in the match was nothing short of shocking.

In the initial four overs, Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli, and Ishan Kishan let slip catches that they would normally catch without a doubt. Additionally, there were unnecessary overthrows, showcasing India’s lackluster fielding.

Rohit Sharma was unimpressed by India’s fielding performance against Nepal

Despite his penchant for expressing displeasure openly, Rohit Sharma’s discontent was evident on the field. His animated reactions and vocal protests have garnered attention in the past, including yesterday, and will continue to do so. However, one incident in particular left Rohit more infuriated than ever before. In the 38th over of Nepal’s innings, Shardul Thakur’s fielding mishap drew Rohit’s ire.

When Sompal Kami played a short ball from Hardik Pandya over the wicketkeeper’s head, Shardul reached the ball in time but fumbled it miserably, resulting in a boundary. Rohit appeared visibly frustrated, rightfully so, as India’s overall fielding performance continued to disappoint.

In the following over, heavy rain forced a pause in the game, and during this time, the camera captured Rohit Sharma in a deeply displeased state. He stood in a corner, observing his teammates as they left the field, wearing an expression of pure discontent.

He specifically waited for Shardul to pass by him, and if expressions could convey words, Rohit would have given the India captain an earful at that moment. Initially, there wasn’t much change for India after the 45-minute rain delay.

Nepal continued to handle loose deliveries and steadily built their innings until a couple of run-outs by Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami dismissed their lower-order batsmen, leaving them all out for 230 runs.

A half-century by Aasif Sheikh and a crucial 48 runs from Kami had pushed Nepal to a total they could take pride in, especially against formidable opponents like India.

However, the revised target due to rain delays was a walk in the park for India. With rain once again causing a nearly two-hour disruption, India’s new target, calculated under the DLS method, was set at 145 runs from 23 overs.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both scored half-centuries, guiding their team to victory in just 20.1 overs.
