The talented young opener Shubman Gill cuts his 24th birthday cake with his Indian teammates at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on September 8th. It was a clear day yesterday in Colombo as the Indian team went to practice after being indoors on the previous day.
Indian team is gearing up for the much anticipated Super 4 clash against Pakistan to be played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 10th September. The Asian Cricket Council announced the reserve day for the high voltage clash between these two powerhouses on 11th September if there is any threat of rain.
Kuldeep Yadav shared with fans a photo of Gill’s birthday celebration in the Indian camp. In his Twitter handle, Gill was seen cutting in the presence of other Indian teammates. It has been a mixed-bag tournament for Men in Blue as the first match between India and Pakistan was washed out due to rain as both teams got 1 point at Kandy on 2nd September.

India looked in deep trouble at 66 for 4 before Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan stitched 138 runs partnership for the 5th wicket helping Men in Blue post 266 in 48.5 overs. The second innings did not begin due to heavy rains. The second match at Kandy against Nepal was rain-curtailed as Nepal scored 230.
The match was revised to 145 off 23 overs as Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma chased down the target with ease. Both players scored half-centuries with the Indian team winning the match by 10 wickets with 17 balls to spare.

Shubman Gill had a mixed-bag tournament so far in the two matches he batted. He looked in trouble against the top-quality bowling of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah. The opener made 10 off 31 deliveries with only 1 boundary.
Gill scored well complied half-century in the 2nd match against Nepal and remained not out. Shubman Gill practiced indoors on 7th September with rain slashing R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
