Team India spinner Kuldeep Yadav expressed that he will cherish his five-wicket haul against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four Match even when he retires from the sport. His performance powered India to a 228-run victory on Monday, September 11 (reserve day) at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Batting first, India put on 356 runs on the board on the back of a great partnership by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. They slammed centuries in the innings to take India to a huge score. In response, Pakistan batters failed to tackle Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling. The Indian spinner took five wickets for just 25 runs in eight overs at an economy rate of 3.1. He took crucial wickets dismissing the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Agha Salman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf.
Talking about his performance, Kuldeep Yadav said that he will remember his five-wicket haul even when he retires from the sport. He expressed,
“When you pick up five wickets against a big team, it really boosts your morale. Whenever I retire, I will always cherish this five-fer against Pakistan.”

There is more aggression in my bowling rhythm: Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep Yadav has faced a lot of ups and downs in his international career. However, he has battled through the challenges and has emerged as one of India’s finest spinners. He expressed that he has worked hard on his game, and on bringing more aggression in his bowling rhythm. Kuldeep Yadav said,
“I have been playing regularly for the past one and half years after my knee surgery. My run-up has gone a bit straight. There is more aggression in my bowling rhythm, the approach to the crease is good, and perhaps earlier my bowling hand used to fall a lot, it’s under control now and it is now facing more towards the batsman.”
“At the same time, I have not lost my spin and drift, it is still there and my pace has also gone up. That’s why it is helping me. For some time now, I have only been thinking about hitting those good lengths consistently, It gives you more chances of taking wickets,” he added.
