Asia Cup 2023: ‘You Needn’t Engage In Conversation With Kohli; Simply Divert His Attention’: Former Pakistan Player Reveals How To Dismiss Virat Kohli

Leading up to the highly anticipated clash between the rival teams in the Super Four phase of the 2023 Asia Cup, retired fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar offered some guidance to his national squad.

In a recent interview filled with humor, Shoaib recommended that his team should avoid conversing with the flamboyant batsman Virat Kohli.

He emphasized the necessity of applying pressure on Kohli instead of engaging in dialogue during the match, emphasizing that diverting his focus is crucial for their chances of securing victory.

Shoaib warned his team not to chat with the Virat Kohli

“Get Kohli busy, and if he gets busy batting, then he will win them the match,” said Akhtar.

“You shouldn’t talk to Virat Kohli. You just have to push him, and remove his focus. Get him busy. And if he is busy batting, then he will win them the match,” Shoaib told on ‘Wake Up With Sorabh’ (YouTube Channel).

Discussing Kohli’s performance in the current Asia Cup, the aggressive right-handed batsman faced difficulties in scoring runs during his initial match against Pakistan.

He managed to secure only four runs against the Pakistani team. However, in the second group stage match against Nepal, Kohli did not have an opportunity to bat.

The initial encounter between Team India and Pakistan in Kandy ended without a result due to rain. It’s important to note that adverse weather might affect the upcoming match in Colombo.

However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has set aside a backup day for the game to take place on Monday, September 11. Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, emerged victorious in their first Super Four stage match against Bangladesh and is keen to maintain their winning streak against India.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma’s team is determined to kick off their Super Four campaign with a convincing victory against their long-standing rivals.

After the Pakistan match, India will shift their focus to crucial games against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, scheduled for September 12 and 15, respectively.
