The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced that the 2025 Asia Cup will take place in the UAE from September 9 to 28. The tournament will act as an important lead-up to the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. This will be the fifth time the UAE hosts the Asia Cup.
The country previously hosted back-to-back editions in 2018 and 2022, with the latter played in the T20 format. The decision to hold the 2025 edition in the UAE was finalized during the ACC’s Annual General Meeting in Dhaka.
Although the BCCI is officially listed as the host board, the full tournament schedule, expected to feature eight teams, will be announced soon. Newly appointed ACC President Mohsin Naqvi officially declared that the tournament will take place in September 2025.
“I am delighted to confirm the dates of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in UAE. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 9th to 28th. We look forward to a spectacular display of cricket. Details scheduled will be out soon,” a social media post read.
The tournament will be Team India’s first white-ball appearance after the 2025 Champions Trophy, as their August tour of Bangladesh has been rescheduled for 2026.
India To Defend Asia Cup Title After 2023 Triumph
India clinched the previous edition of the Asia Cup, held in Sri Lanka under a hybrid model. Played in the 50-over format as preparation for the 2023 ODI World Cup, the tournament saw the Men in Blue dominate Sri Lanka in the final at Colombo to claim their record-extending eighth title.
Now, under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team faces a major challenge as they begin a white-ball-heavy season, with hopes of securing only their second T20-format Asia Cup title after their 2016 victory.
