Team India all-rounder Rinku Singh lit up the first quarter-final of the Men’s cricket event at the Asian Games on Tuesday, October 3 at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou with his spectacular batting performance. India secured a convincing win over Nepal in the match owing to a complete team performance.
The Indian team got off to a solid start as Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad notched up a century-opening stand. However, Nepal struck back taking wickets at regular intervals. India was at 150/4 in around sixteen overs when Rinku Singh walked out to bat with Shivam Dubey already at the crease.
The two Indian left-handers ensured India a great finish as they put on 52 52-run partnership. Rinku Singh was at his mighty best during the innings. He slammed four sixes and two boundaries to pile on 37 runs off just 15 deliveries, at a strike rate of 246.67. He entertained the spectators with his terrific performance.

Shivam Dubey stayed unbeaten on 25 runs off 19 deliveries, with two boundaries and a six. Earlier in the match, Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed his maiden T20I century. He smashed 100 runs off 49 balls, with eight boundaries and seven sixes. India managed 202 runs in the first innings.
India advances to semis at Asian Games
Team India defeated Nepal by 23 runs in the first quarter-final at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field, Hangzhou. They restricted Nepal to 179 runs while defending 202. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi were the pick of the bowlers in the match. Both took three wickets as Nepal fell short of the target. Arshdeep Singh also bowled well in the innings picking up two wickets.
With this win, India has advanced to the semi-final in the Men’s cricket event at the Asian Games. This is their first appearance in the continental championship. Last month, India’s women’s team won the Gold medal defeating Sri Lanka at the Asian Games.
