The West Indies Cricket Board announced squads for the One-day international and T20I series against Australia to be played from 2nd February. After 3 ODI matches, both teams will play in a 3 match T20I series with a mind of the T20 World Cup to be played in the USA and West Indies this June.
Shai Hope would lead the ODI squad while Shimron Hetymer misses across both formats. The ODI squad comprises fresh faces namely Teddy Bishop and Tevin Imlach. Hayden Walsh Junior who has performed in the domestic 50 competition makes a comeback into the West Indies team. He played his last ODI match in August 2022.
West Indies will be high on confidence as they registered their first-ever ODI series win after 16 years and would look to give a tough fight to the Australian team in their den. The first One-day international will be played on 2nd February in Melbourne, the 2nd ODI will be played at Sydney on 4th and the final match will take place at Canberra on 6th Feb.
“On the back of a series win against England, we are expecting our ODI team to be very competitive in Australia. We have some new inclusions, who have impressed over a significant period, and a couple of returning players, who we think will have an impact,” lead selector Desmond Haynes said.

Alick Athanze, Teddy Bishop, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (C), Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Tevin Imlach, Gudakesh Motie, Kjorn Ottley, Romario Shepherd, Oshane Thomas, Hayden Walsh Junior, Alazzari Joseph.
After the 3 match ODI series, West Indies would focus on the three-match T20I series. The first T20I match would be played on the 9th at Hobart, the 2nd match to take place on the 11th Feb at Adelaide, and the final match on the 13th Feb at Perth.
Kyle Mayers and Jason Holder make a comeback into the T20I squad after missing from the test series. Rovman Powell would lead the squad and will be high on confidence defeating England by 3-2 in the home series.
“For the T20I series, this forms part of our crucial preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup where we are hosts. We are hoping to build on strong overall performances against India and England and to keep improving as we approach the major tournament,” Haynes added.
