After the field restrictions, Mathews and Stephanie Taylor kept the momentum going for West Indies hitting boundaries with ease. Mathews was given a reprieve thrice with dropped catches. Mathews and Taylor kept ticking the scoreboard making life tough for Australian bowlers. Stephanie Taylor reached fifty off 35 deliveries that kept West Indies women on course.

Megan Schutt eventually struck getting rid of Taylor trying to hit a big shot. Taylor and Mathews put on 174 runs for the 2nd wicket. Mathews continued her merry way to her 2nd T20I century off 53 deliveries. After her milestone, she hit attacking strokes and was eventually dismissed for 132 with 20 fours and 5 sixes.
