Australia And England Players Arrive In UAE Ahead Of IPL 2020 Opener

The Australia and England players that featured in the recently concluded limited over series have arrived in the UAE ahead of the IPL opener. About 21 players from both sides arrived in the gulf country from the UK by a chartered plane. They will now undergo isolation for only 36 hours since that’s what Cricket Australia and BCCI have worked out upon.

Earlier it was reported that players returning from the UK would undergo 6 days of quarantine. But as the BCCI worked out things with the authorities in UAE. The quarantine period for the players was reduced to 36 hours.

Since the players were already in a biosecure bubble in the United Kingdom since last 3 weeks worked out in favour of the players. Which is why instead of quarantining for 7 days, the players will only undergo quarantine of 36 hours.

Upon arrival in the UAE, the players were seen wearing the Personal Protection Kits for added protection from the virus. All 21 players will now undergo RT-PCR test for COVID-19 as per BCCI protocol. After which the Kolkata Knight Riders players (Eoin Morgan, Tom Banton and Pat Cummins) will then drive to Abu Dhabi where the franchise is currently based.

Rajasthan Royals foreign players, Smith, Archer, Buttler and Tom Curran arrived at the team hotel in PPE kits. After the players arrived at the team hotel, the franchise’s twitter handle updated the fans with a picture of them captioned:

Four new arrivals Can you guess who’s who?”

 

Rajasthan Royals side will be looking to see their captain Steve Smith back in action. Since it’s still a sign of worry for them since Smith was ruled out of the ODI series owing to a concussion he suffered ahead of the first ODI during practice. On the other hand, there is still no update on Ben Stokes participation in this year’s IPL.
