Australia announce squad for the 2nd Test against Pakistan

Australia named the same squad for the upcoming 2nd Test match to be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCG from 26th December 2023. They decided to release Lance Morris from the squad and will hope to continue their performance.

It was a dominating performance by the Australian team right from the word go. Thanks to a brilliant knock by David Warner and contributions from the rest of the batters, Australia posted 487 runs in the first innings. Australia bowled brilliantly in the first innings to bowl out Pakistan for just 271 to take a big lead.

Australia lost the wickets of Warner and Labuschagne. Usman Khawaja and Mitchell Marsh showed intent before they declared their innings on 233 for 5 setting Pakistan a huge target. Australian bowlers wreaked havoc and bowled out Pakistan for 89 runs to win the match by a massive 360 runs to take 1-0 lead. For his all-round performance, Mitchell Marsh was named the Player of the Match award.

“I don’t think injuries are going to be an issue, so I dare say it will be a pretty similar line-up at this stage. I think all the bowlers are pretty fresh after (the win in Perth). It’s the ideal start to the summer,” Cummins said after the Perth Test, hinting at an unchanged XI for Melbourne.

Australia would be looking to continue their winning run as they take on Pakistan in the 2nd Test match starting from 26th December 2023. It was a superb performance by the Australian team as they completely dominated Pakistan with a stunning performance.

Lance Morris who was a part of the squad for the first Test match has been released and will play for Perth Scorchers in the ongoing Big Bash edition.

Australia will not make any changes to the bowling lineup as Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon delivered 100 overs in the first innings. Cummins and Co just delivered 30 overs to bowl out the visitors cheaply as Australia won the match by 360 runs.
