Australia has begun its preparation for the upcoming boxing day Test against India. Today a former Sri Lanka was spotted bowling at the Australian batsmen in the net session. The bowler being off-spinner Suraj Randiv who has been probably called up so that the batting get used to facing some off-spin leading up to the match.
Team India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin troubled the Aussie batsmen throughout the pink ball Test which is why the hosts want to fine-tune their skills against spin ahead of the MCG Test. Randiv who is best remembered for bowling a no-ball when Virender Sehwag was batting at 99 was seen bowling with intensity in the Australia nets.

Australia was outstanding with the bowl at Adelaide but looked rusty while batting. Especially against Ashwin’s off-break they were unable to be positive and looked to play him from the crease which they weren’t able to do successfully. The Australian think tank will be hoping that their batsmen are now more confident about playing the spin of Ashwin after facing Randiv in the nets.

The tall Sri-Lankan bowler is somewhat similar to Ashwin who doesn’t get much turn but bowls accurately at batsmen. Ashwin took 4 wickets in the first innings and 1 in the second and was by far the most successful bowler for team.
Meanwhile, the video of Randiv taking part in the net session of Australia surfaced on Twitter which had everyone applauding their planning ahead of the second Test. Randiv had represented Sri Lanka in 12 Test matches in his career in which he picked 43 wickets at an average of 37.5.
Furthermore, the visitors India were also seen sweating it out in the nets facility outside the iconic MCG stadium. Team India will be keen to bounce back and make a statement in the second Test that begins from December 26 at Melbourne.
