Team India pacer Avesh Khan has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 due to an illness. The young fast bowler missed the Men in Blue’s last two encounters against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Incidentally, Avesh had suffered from an illness, and thus his place in the squad was under doubt. In a press conference before the Pakistan game, head coach Rahul Dravid mentioned that he hoped that the illness was not too serious.
However, it looks like Avesh Khan has not recovered in time and will miss the remaining games of the continental tournament, a report in PTI confirmed. The news portal quoted a BCCI official as saying:
“Avesh has fever and he has also got sinus related problems which has escalated post illness. It will not be possible for him to take further part in the tournament. Deepak Chahar is already there and he will be drafted in the main squad.”
Deepak Chahar, who was in the standby list for the Asia Cup 2022, has been added to main squad. He will be available for selection for India’s next fixture against Afghanistan on Thursday, September 8.
