Axar Patel ended with 11 wickets and won the Man of the Match award in the Pink-Ball test against England. India won by 10 wickets to knock England out of contention for a spot in the World Test championship final. With India needing 48 needing to win in the second innings, Rohit Sharma (25) and Shubman Gill (15) got the runs inside eight overs for an early finish.

After picking up a six-for in the first innings, Axar Patel took a five-wicket haul in the second innings. England batters found batting even more difficult in the second innings. They had absolutely no idea as to how the pitch behaved throughout the phase of play. Stokes top-scored with 25 in the second innings while Root and Ollie Pope scored 19 and 12 respectively.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, the left-arm spinner spoke about how he went through his business of picking up the wickets. He said that he would like to keep up the bowling form in the next Test as well.

Would Want To Continue My Form: Axar Patel

“I want to continue this form. I am happy that if I am not contributing with the bat, I am doing it with the ball. My strength is to bowl wicket-to-wicket and not give him room. The mindset of batters is they play out couple of maidens, they either go for a sweep or try to hit over the infield” said Patel.

When asked about the pitch and the conditions, Axar Patel said that he would want similar conditions for the next Test as well.

” I would want this wicket to remain the same for the final Test as well as I am picking up wickets” said Axar.

Both teams meet again in a week’s time in the fourth and final Test match of the series in Ahmedabad.
