Ben Stokes is the latest England wicket to fall in the Pink-Ball Test against India at the Motera stadium. He was the fourth batsmen to get out LBW as England have lost two more wickets in a jiffy in the second session. This happened after England skipper Joe Root won the toss and opted to bat first. Axar Patel is turning a web around the England batsman even on day 1 of the Ahmedabad Test match.

Post the tea break, Ollie Pope was the first wicket to fall in the 28th over of the England innings. In the very next over bowled by the left-arm spinner, he trapped England all-rounder Ben Stokes on the backfoot. Thus Stokes’s dry run with the bat in the Test series continues. He has just scored 121 runs in the three Tests at 24.20.

The England batsmen so far have not been able to cope up with the turn and the bounce of the Motera pitch. They have been found wanting to play the turning ball. Team selection-wise as well, they have made the mistake of picking just one specialist in the XI. They have completely red the pitch wrong and have named a four-man pace attack with Jack Leach as the only specialist spinner.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin got the big wicket of England skipper Joe Root to peg the opponents further back in the Pink-ball Test match at Motera stadium. Root was the third English wicket to fall inside the first session of play after England won the toss and opted to bat first. After Ishant Sharma dismissed Dom Sibly for a duck, the Indian spinners Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin took a wicket apiece. Root and Crawley had a 47-run stand before Ashwin got the better of the England skipper.

England skipper Joe Root won the toss and elected to bat first as both teams entered the ground amid huge cheers. Ishant started the proceedings and immediately struck to remove Dominic Sibley for a duck. A simple outswinger found the edge of Sibley and it was a regular catch for Rohit Sharma.

Seeking an opportunity, Virat Kohli immediately brought in Axar Patel which paid dividends immediately as the local boy removed Jonny Bairstow, playing his first game of the series for a duck leaving England in all sorts of trouble at 27 for two.
