Wahab Riaz has been named as senior manager for this series along with Mohammad Yousuf and Saeed Ajmal named as batting and bowling coaches. This will be an ideal chance to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be played in WI and USA to be played in June.

Mohammad Yousuf served as batting coach while Saeed Ajmal will continue as spin bowling coach who was part of the coaching staff for the Test series against Australia and the T20I series against NZ.

Azhar Mahmood previously held the position of Pakistan Cricket Team from 2016 to 2019. Pakistan Cricket team is taking part in the fitness camp conducted by trainers in Kakul.

The team for the five T20I series will be announced on 9th April. Babar Azam has been appointed as captain for both T20I and ODI series. Both Babar and the selectors will chat to finalize who will be included in this series.

Pakistan would look to play attacking cricket in the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand at home. The first three T20I matches to be played on the 18th, 20th, and 21st of April would be at Rawplandi while Lahore would host the next two matches on the 25th and 27th of April.

Under the coaching of Grant Bradburn and Micky Arthur, Pakistan could not qualify for the finals of Asia Cup 2023. They failed to make it into the top four of the 2023 World Cup played in India.

Pakistan’s performance in limited overs format

Pakistan has struggled in limited overs format. Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, Pakistan could not qualify for the semi-final spot as they lost to India, Australia, South Africa, and England. Their only wins came against the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and New Zealand.

After a disappointing performance in WC 2023, Babar Azam was removed from the captaincy after Pakistan finished 6th. PCB appointed Shaheen Shah Afridi for the T20I series against New Zealand in New Zealand.

Pakistan won the fifth 5th T20I match after losing the first four matches with ease. Shaheen Shah Afridi was removed from T20I captaincy and then Babar Azam was reappointed as T20I and ODI captain again.
