Babar Azam Awarded PCB’s Most Valuable Player At Annual Awards

Pakistan all-format skipper Babar Azam was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the team at the PCB awards on Friday, January 1, 2021. Though Pakistan played very little cricket last year, Babar was one of the most impactful players of the team scoring runs across all formats. Babar scored a total of 338 runs in 4 Tests last year, scoring runs at an average of 67.6. He scored with an average of over 100 in ODIs and over 55 in T20Is throughout last year. 

Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan won the Test Cricketer of the Year Award. He has also become the team’s first-choice keeper across all formats. Rizwan inflicted 12 dismissals in 5 matches for Pakistan in the format last year.

Meanwhile, Fawad Alam bagged the prize having scored a century against New Zealand in the second innings of the first Test that concluded recently. Naseem Shah, meanwhile, was named Men’s Emerging International Cricketer of the Year for bagging 12 wickets in 5 matches last year.

The winners will be presented with specially designed trophies during the upcoming home series against South Africa. Meanwhile,  Babar Azam has been ruled out of the second and final Test against New Zealand in Christchurch after failing to recover sufficiently from a right thumb fracture, PCB said on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
