Babar Azam To Discuss With Mohammad Amir Over Latter’s Retirement

Babar Azam Net Worth

Pakistan skipper and talisman Babar Azam has said that he will talk to Mohammad Amir regarding the latter’s retirement and the issues he has regarding the Pakistan Cricket Team. Amir had stated that he cannot play for the team because of the ‘current mindset’ of the Pakistan coaching staff. He also urged the management to end the ‘scary atmosphere’ in the dressing room.

The ex-cricketer had retired from international cricket at the age of 28, quoting ‘mental torture’ by the coaching staff. He asked for the staff to give freedom and space to the players in order to safeguard their mental health.

Amir continues to play franchise cricket around the world. He is also set to apply for British citizenship, which will consequently enable him to play in the IPL.

He is one of the best left-arm bowlers:  Babar Azam on Amir

Babar Azam had nothing but praise for the now-retired 28-year old. Mohammad Amir has played for Pakistan in 36 Tests and 61 ODI’s, scalping 119 and 81 wickets respectively. His performance was crucial for Pakistan’s victory in the now-defunct ICC Champions Trophy back in 2017.

With Pakistan Super League set to resume from today, Babar and Amir are set to join forces to play for the Karachi Kings. Babar has said he will talk to Amir when he gets an opportunity to bring up the topic.

“I haven’t spoken to him yet (about retirement) but we will discuss the problems he is facing when I get the opportunity to talk to him, He is one of the best left-arm bowlers and I really like him. I’m hopeful that he continues to perform well in the upcoming half of PSL.” Babar Azam was quoted as saying.
