Team India batter KL Rahul’s lean patch continued in the second Test match against Australia on Saturday, February 18 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, in Delhi. He was dismissed for yet another low score in the first innings of the test. The Indian vice-captain managed just 17 runs, falling prey to Nathan Lyon.
KL Rahul was unbeaten for four runs at the end of the first day’s play in Kotla. He struggled to get going in the morning session on day two. The Australian bowlers kept the batter on his toes. He survived a couple of reviews in the innings and also slammed a six off Matthew Kuhnemann. However, couldn’t make it big once again.
The opener was trapped lbw by Nathan Lyon in the first session, bowling around the wicket. KL Rahul failed to counter the turn and ended up missing the delivery, which went on to hit the pads. Umpire Nitin Menon raised the finger in a flash, however, the batter took a review. The impact was low, and the ball seemed to be clipping the leg stump. Fans were disappointed with another failed KL Rahul’s innings.
Let’s take a look at how Twitterati reacted to KL Rahul’s dismissal:

Definitely time now to pick @ShubmanGill in D XI. @klrahul just isn't justifying his position. Enough of a run. #INDvAUS https://t.co/DtOgTXRdQe

Lyons playing havic. has put Aus on top this morning with 3 wickets in double quick time. A id test for Kohli who has been searching for a match winning test knock for a long, long while

The selectors & team management have actually done more damage to KL Rahul's career by constantly picking him in the team when he's so evidently out of form. Even the most talented cricketers face a bad patch & when they're dropped, the determined ones tend to come back stronger.

KL Rahul averages 34 in test cricket after being around forever.. continuing to play him over someone who is in the form of his life like Gill is criminal. #Indian team doesn't exist to play and protect Rahul. #INDvsAUS

Nathan Lyon shines for Australia in the first session
Off-spinner Nathan Lyon has put Australia in a great position at the end of the first session on day two of the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. He bowled outstandingly well, taking four wickets in the session in eleven overs. The mayhem started with KL Rahul’s dismissal.
Lyon then sends Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara back to the hut in the same over. Shreyas Iyer, who is making a comeback from injury, was also dismissed cheaply, as Peter Handscomb took a brilliant catch, off Nathan Lyon. At lunch, Team India is 88/4 in 35 overs, with Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease.
