Bangladesh announce squad for World T20: Bangladesh Cricket Board on Wednesday announced the squad for the upcoming major events – Asia Cup in February and the World T20 in March. The list was obtained after selecting a 15-member squad from the available 25 names released provisionally earlier.
The second highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League, Abu Hider have been included in the side. All-rounder Nasir Hossain and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Mithun have been recalled. They were not part of the last T20I series against Zimbabwe. Imrul Kayes and Litton Kumar Das have been ignored.
Mashrafe Mortaza will lead the side in the tournament. Mushfiqur Rahim and left-arm pacer, Mustafizur Rahman are back in the squad after they missed the last two matches against Zimbabwe due to injury.
Bangladesh will play in the qualification round for Group A alongside Ireland, the Netherlands and Oman. The group topper will then enter the main draw for the World T20. 4 leading cricket nations in Group A are: India, Australia, Pakistan and New Zealand. Bangladesh will be taking on the Netherlands, Ireland and Oman on the 9th, 11th and 13th March respectively.
Chief selector Faruque Ahmed said: “More or less we have an idea about our best 11 players. We thought they have the potential to be the next best.”
