The upcoming limited-overs series between India and Bangladesh, set to take place in August, is under a cloud of uncertainty. According to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet received the required clearance from the Indian government to confirm the tour.
This delay in official approval has sparked doubts about whether the series will take place as planned. While the fixtures were being anticipated by cricket fans from both nations, the lack of formal go-ahead from Indian authorities has put the entire schedule on hold.
BCB Reveals Current Status of the Tour
A senior official from the BCB mentioned that despite reaching out to their Indian counterparts, they are still waiting for a final confirmation. “They are yet to get the clearance from their government,” the official stated, underlining the procedural step that remains unfulfilled.
The BCB had already made arrangements for the matches and were expecting confirmation soon, but the delay has now made things uncertain. “We are hopeful but can’t proceed until they confirm,” the official added, acknowledging that everything hinges on the Indian government’s decision.
Awaiting Clarity from Indian Side
Even though the Indian team has expressed interest in participating in the limited-overs series, including ODIs and T20s, no travel or logistical plans can be finalized without the necessary governmental nod. The BCCI, as per the usual practice, has to secure permission for overseas tours, especially those involving neighboring countries.
Until this official clearance is granted, both boards remain in a waiting mode. “They are yet to get the clearance from their government” – this statement from the BCB sums up the key roadblock in what was supposed to be a highly awaited bilateral contest. As of now, the cricketing community waits for further communication from the BCCI or Indian authorities to determine the fate of this tour.
