BCCI Announces Hike in Match Fee for Domestic Players

BCCI may send U23 players

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has recently announced that the board is going to increase the match fees for all the domestic players as well. Domestic players who have so far played more than 40 matches will get INR 60,000 while Under 23 players will get INR 25,000 and Under 19 cricketers will earn INR 20,000.

Jay Shah took to his Twitter account to announce this news as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided this during its Apex Council meeting on Monday, September 20 as well. They also announced that players who took part in the 2019-20 Domestic Season will receive a 50 percent additional match fee as the 2020-21 season didn’t take place due to the global pandemic COVID-19.

Currently, the senior domestic men’s cricketers earn ₹35,000 for every match for Ranji Trophy or Vijay Hazare Trophy whereas players get ₹17,500 per game in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well.

Meanwhile, when Sourav Ganguly became the BCCI president, he had shared the idea of state units bringing a contract system for all the domestic players. But, it hasn’t started yet due to the pandemic and the players who had played in Ranji Trophy are without pay since March 2020 as well.
