BCCI Awards 2024: Ravi Shastri To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award In Hyderabad

Former cricketer and ex-head coach of Team India, Ravi Shastri is set to receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award during the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awards that are set to be held in Hyderabad on Tuesday, January 23. He will join the illustrious list of players who have received the CK Nayudu Award for lifetime achievement.

The BCCI Awards ceremony was last held in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2024 Awards ceremony will be graced by the current and former Indian cricketers. The England test team, who is in India for the upcoming series is also expected to attend the ceremony.

Ravi Shastri will be presented with the CK Nayudu Award for lifetime achievement during the ceremony. Nari Contractor, Gundappa Viswanath, Mohinder Amarnath, Salim Durani, Ajit Wadekar, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Dilip Vengsarkar, Syed Kirmani, Rajinder Goel and Padmaka Shivalkar, Pankaj Roy and Anshuman Gaekwad are the recipients of the lifetime achievement award.

The former cricketer was part of the 1983 World Cup-winning Indian squad. He has played 80 Tests, and 150 ODI matches for Team India. He has scored 3830 runs and has taken 151 wickets in red-ball cricket, and 3108 runs and 129 wickets in ODIs. Shastri has also led Team India in both formats. Post-retirement, he turned to Commentary and also coached the Indian team.

Shubman Gill set for the big honour

Team India batter Shubman Gill is set to receive the Polly Umrigar Award for the best men’s cricketer of the year for 2023, according to reports. He has had a great 2023 year for Team India, scoring 2154 runs across formats, the most by any batter in 2023. He also hit seven centuries, including a double century in 2023.

The BCCI awards are set to take place on Tuesday, January 23 in Hyderabad from 6.00 pm onwards. The event will be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema app for the fans.
