It claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), of which BCCI is a part and is involved in the front race for the next head coach, interviewed more candidates on Tuesday than Gautam Gambhir, who is a former India opener.

In this IPL season, the coach of KKR was favored after his squad successfully captured the third IPL title with Shreyas Iyer and Company. Previously, the latest report shows that Gambhir and WV Raman, the ex-cricket player, appeared before the CAC of BCCI for the head coach interview.

After the T20 World Cup 2024, Indian head coach Dravid will break up with Team India, led by Rohit Sharma. Before his contract expired in June, Dravid had already stated that he would not be reapplying for the prominent position where he would be coaching the team captained by Virat Kohli.

As expected, with a quite, high likelihood of getting India’s next head coach, Gambhir was expected to be the only person for the high-profile position.

On Tuesday, Gautam Gambhir, who was once the opening batsman of Team India, and WV Raman, who was once the coach of the women’s cricket team, were the two rightful successors for the head coach of Team India, according to an interview held by the CAC of BCCI.

CricketNext claims that Gambhir participated virtually in the interview from his home in Delhi. Ashok Malhotra, Sulakshana Naik, and Jatin Paranjape make up the CAC. Ashok participated remotely on the call as well because he was doing commentary.

Meanwhile, WV Raman prepared a comprehensive presentation, which, according to knowledgeable BCCI sources, impressed the board. The source also states that on Wednesday, the CAC is probably going to interview a candidate from outside.

Gautam Gambhir had a virtual interview but Raman’s presentation was very impressive and detailed. The CAC is likely to interview an overseas candidate tomorrow. Gambhir has the edge but Raman’s presentation was very thorough,” a BCCI source told News18 CricketNext.
