The Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) has confirmed the availability of England players for the remaining phase of IPL 2021 in the UAE. Speaking to ANI, the BCCI officials have confirmed the availability of Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler and others for the UAE leg of the tournament.
The England and Wales Cricket Board postponing the team’s tour to Bangladesh allowed the England players to be back for the remaining IPL season. ANI’s report further said that England’s tour to Bangladesh was clashing with the second half of the IPL 2021 which forced the board to rethink their strategy and postpone the tour for now.
England Players Available For IPL 2021 Second Half
“The English players will be available for the resumption of the IPL in the UAE. The BCCI has the green signal. This shows the brilliant working relationship that the secretary has with not just the ECB, but also the BCB,” the source said.
England were to play Bangladesh in a T20 series in September-October. However, the BCB Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chowdury has said that the board is trying to reschedule the series after the T20 World Cup.
“Both the teams [Bangladesh and England] are playing a lot of cricket before the T20 World Cup, so we are discussing with the ECB whether the series can be hosted after the World Cup,” BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury was quoted as saying by Bangladesh daily Prothom Alo.
The IPL 2021 resumes in the UAE with Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians playing the first match in Abu Dhabi on September 19. The final will be played on October 15. A total of 31 matches including the playoffs and the final will be played in 27 days. 13 matches will be held in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah, and 8 in Abu Dhabi.
