The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released an official statement on Monday, July 21, regarding injuries to pacer Arshdeep Singh and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. Arshdeep sustained an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in a training session at Beckenham on Thursday, July 17.

As a result, he has been ruled out of the fourth Test against England, set to start on Wednesday, July 23, at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. Meanwhile, on Sunday, July 20, reports emerged that Nitish Kumar Reddy was injured during a gym workout. The BCCI has now confirmed that the 22-year-old has suffered a left knee injury and has been ruled out of the remainder of the series.

He will return to India for further recovery. Nitish Kumar Reddy struggled at Edgbaston, failing to take a wicket and managing only two runs across both innings. However, he showed improvement in the third Test at Lord’s, scoring 30 and 13 with the bat and recording bowling figures of 2 for 62 and 1 for 20.

Here is the revised squad for the fourth Test:

Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, and Anshul Kamboj.

India Aim For First-Ever Test Win In Manchester

Team India will be eager to recover from their setback at Lord’s as they gear up for the fourth Test in Manchester. However, Old Trafford has historically been an unfavourable venue for them. The visitors have contested nine Tests at the ground, ending up with four defeats and five draws, and are still in search of their first win there.

Their most recent Test appearance in Manchester came in 2014, where they faced a crushing loss by an innings and 54 runs. Now, with Shubman Gill at the helm, India will aim to change that narrative—similar to their memorable turnaround in Edgbaston—and level the series 2-2 ahead of the final Test at the Kennington Oval in London.
