The BCCI is likely to reduce the four-match Test series into a three-match affair after the disrespectful comments of Queensland Health Minister Ros Bates on Team India. “If the Indians don’t want to play by the rules, don’t come,” she said upon BCCI’s request to not travel to Brisbane for the fourth Test. Now a BCCI official has responded to her comments saying that her comments were too offensive and disrespectful to BCCI’s commitments to Cricket Australia in smooth conduct of the series.

As per the reports of the BCCI official, they are not happy with the remarks made by Bates and are thinking to reduce the length of the series.

BCCI Likely To Reduce length Of Test Series

“The statement made by the public representative portrays Indians in poor light and let me assure you, we do not want to do anything other than to abide by the rules, and Rohit Sharma’s strict quarantine is a case in point. To try and propagate a view that we don’t wish to follow the rules is unacceptable and the tone and tenor, in which it was said seemed rife with hostility and bordered on racism. It is, therefore, not a surprise that a rethink is on the cards,” the BCCI official said.

He further said that the Indian team does not want to hurt the sentiments of the Australian fans who have given them so much love and respect over the years.

“If a representative of the public does not want us there, it is hurtful and the last thing we want is to upset the Australian fans who have given us so much love and support over the years. We do not wish to make it difficult for them or for Cricket Australia,” the BCCI official further added.

Meanwhile, both the Indian and the Australian teams are expected to travel to Sydney on January 4, Monday. The third Test starts at the SCG from January 07. The series is 1-1 at the moment after India’s win at the MCG in the second Test.
