Virat Kohli: A Legendary Test Captain for India

In his 123 Test matches, Virat Kohli accumulated 9,230 runs, including 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries. He captained the Indian team in 68 Tests, taking over from MS Dhoni midway through the 2014 Test series in Australia. Under his leadership, India won 40 of those 68 Tests, giving him a win percentage of 58.82%, the highest by any Indian captain in this format.

Additionally, Kohli’s leadership saw India claim 16 victories in 36 Tests played away from home, a record for an Indian captain. His tenure included landmark series victories in Australia, England, and South Africa, establishing India as a team capable of winning in challenging overseas conditions.

As he steps away from Test cricket, Kohli not only leaves behind a legacy as one of the format’s greatest batters but also as India’s most successful Test captain.
