The outbreak of the pandemic coronavirus had a toll on all the sporting activities across the globe including the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had to postpone the league until April 15 which was scheduled to commence from March 29. But going by the current situation, it is highly unlikely to start the tournament in April.

And now, if reports are to believed, the Sourav Ganguly-led body is planning to host the tournament in August-September window. If this sees the daylight, then BCCI will have to urge the Asian Cricket Council to postpone the Asia Cup 2020 which is scheduled during that period.

India’s current schedule for September includes the Asia Cup as well as a 3-match ODI and 3-match T20I series against England. Some of the other teams including South Africa and the West Indies also have a few cricketing assignments scheduled during this 2-month period while Australia are completely free.
