Veteran India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been undergoing recovery from a significant back issue for more than a year now. However, there is good news as he is now fully fit and set to join the Indian squad for the upcoming 3 T20Is in Ireland.

The confirmation of his fitness came from Jay Shah, the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tour is scheduled to begin in August, and the team announcement is expected soon.

Bumrah’s road to recovery has been a challenging one. He underwent a successful back surgery in March, after which he has not participated in any competitive cricket since a T20I match against Australia in September. Even during the Asia Cup, he had to miss several games due to his back injury resurfacing.

Earlier this year, there were hopes of him making a comeback for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, but during the fitness drills in January, he experienced discomfort again, leading to further delays in his return. Unfortunately, he had to sit out the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Reports indicated that he was bowling with full intensity during his net sessions, providing hope for his return to the field. Since starting his rehabilitation in April, he has gradually increased his bowling workload, showing promising signs.

This tour to Ireland will be Bumrah’s second visit to the country, with the first one in 2018 marred by a thumb fracture that forced him to miss a significant part of the England tour that year.

However, with his current fitness, fans and cricket enthusiasts are eager to see him back in action and contribute to the Indian team’s success in the upcoming matches.
