BCCI Tightens Rules And Security For IPL Celebration Events

Following the tragic stampede at Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL title celebration—which resulted in 11 deaths and left over 50 people injured—the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing to introduce strict regulations for post-IPL celebrations and road parades.

In an exclusive statement to India Today, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia emphasized that the board is approaching the matter with the highest level of seriousness and is “closely examining every potential risk to prevent such incidents in the future.” He further stated that all IPL teams will now be required to follow formal guidelines if they intend to hold public celebrations.

While the BCCI had initially clarified that it was not involved in organizing the Bengaluru event, it has since established a three-member committee tasked with creating and enforcing safety protocols for future festivities. The decision comes amid growing public concern and backlash over the mishandled event in Bengaluru.
