The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to announce the squad for India’s tour of Australia sometime next week. The upcoming series will be India’s first cricketing assignment since the outbreak of coronavirus in the country. The pandemic disrupted cricketing events all over the world, forcing ICC to postpone the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to 2021. Interestingly, with enough time left for the series to start, BCCI has been given a deadline to announce the squad by next week.
As per a report in Times of India, the BCCI is likely to announce the squad by next week in the middle of the IPL season. The selectors are in process of chalking the best possible squad out for the series.
“When does Cricket Australia expect the BCCI to announce the squads for the tour? It’s already October 18 today and barely 23 days are left for the IPL to get over. If the team must fly immediately after the IPL, when will the teams be selected?” ask those who tracking developments.

BCCI to Announce Squad For India’s Tour of Australia
The report further said that BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has asked Cricket Australia to share an interim schedule and are awaiting their response.
“The IPL still has three weeks left and it’s going to be the business-end of the tournament. Player workloads must be managed because the tour of Australia is going to be lengthy. Already there are a couple of injuries,” the report quoted those who are tracking the developments.
The much-awaited series between the two teams consists of four Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.
The first of the four Tests will be played in Adelaide from December 17 to 21. Melbourne will host the Boxing Day Test from December 26-30. Sydney will host the third (January 7-11) and Brisbane (January 15-19) the fourth and final Test match.
The Indian team under Virat Kohli became the first team to win a Test series on Australian soil in 2019.
