The BCCI in a press released have announced the new members of the senior selection committee that will join Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh to complete the five-member selection committee that will be in charge of picking the squads for the senior men’s side. Chetan Sharma is elected as the head of the 5 member committee based on the seniority of a number of test matches played for India.
A cricket advisory committee led by former India player Madan Lal picked Chetan Sharma, Abbey Kuruvilla and Debashis Mohanty as the latest additions to the senior selection committee. As per reports, the names were discussed and declared during BCCI’s Annual General Meeting which took place on Thursday afternoon in Ahmedabad at the newly constructed Motera Stadium.

BCCI’s CAC Announce Chetan Sharma As Head Of Selection Commitee
The selection of the three members concluded after 11 candidates who were shortlisted were virtually interviewed, the likes of Ajit Agarkar, Abey Kuruvilla, Nayan Mongia, Chetan Sharma, Maninder Singh, Vijay Dahiya, Ajay Ratra, Nikhil Chopra, Shiv Sunder Das, Debashish Mohanty and Ranadeb Bose were said to have applied for the coveted post in the selection committee.
As the previous members, Jatin Paranjpe, Devang Gandhi and Sarandeep Singh had completed their terms, the BCCI laid out the process to select the new members in which Chetan Sharma, Abbey Kuruvilla and Debashis Mohanty made the cut.
The senior selection committee consisting of Sunil Joshi, Harvinder Singh, Chetan Sharma, Abbey Kuruvilla and Debashis Mohanty’s next assignment will be of picking the squads for England’s tour of India which is to take place next year.
The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Mr Madan Lal, Mr Rudra Pratap Singh and Ms Sulakshana Naik met virtually to select three members of the All-India Senior Selection Committee (Men).

In the Annual General Meeting, the proposition of a 10 team IPL for 2022 was also approved.
