England all-rounder Ben Stokes has issued a warning to the other teams ahead of next year’s ICC T20 World Cup in India. His comments came in the wake of England’s a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20I series against South Africa in their home ground.

Meanwhile, the last time the tournament took place in 2016, England fell one step short of lifting the title. They had lost to West Indies in the final when Ben Stokes failed to defend 19 runs in the final over at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

However, the ace all-rounder is confident that England can go all the way this time around. He also said that they have the firepower to beat all the team across the globe. Stokes admitted that he is not being arrogant saying it is scary to think how far the current team can go. Incidentally, the English side possesses a strong batting line-up backed by quality bowlers who have delivered under pressure.

“We know if we play to our best we can beat most teams,” said Ben Stokes.

“That isn’t an arrogant thing to say. It’s where we’re at. It’s scary to think how far this team could go. We know how strong we are. There’s no selfishness. Everybody wants everyone else to do well, whether they’re in the team or not. Guys in the side want others to be knocking down the door. That’s a great place to be,” he added.

England would be desperate to lay their hands on the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2010. Ben Stokes further said that the confidence in the England camp is high, just like it was before last year’s World Cup at home.

“There’s a very familiar feeling about this squad with one year to go before the Twenty20 World Cup as there was with the 50-over team,” said Ben Stokes.

“We’re very confident in our ability and what we’ve always done is focus on ourselves. We look at the other team and their strengths and weaknesses, but we put pressure on ourselves,” he concluded.
