Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by three runs in a close encounter at Wankhede Stadium in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Sunrisers Hyderabad successfully defended the total of 193 runs. This win was crucial for Sunrisers to keep their hopes alive for playoffs.

While chasing the target of 194 runs, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave a great start to Mumbai Indians. Both of them formed an opening partnership of 95 runs in 10.4 overs. However, both the openers were dismissed in the 40s and failed to convert their start into a big one. Washington Sundar took the important wicket of Rohit.

While Umran Malik dismissed Ishan Kishan which completely changed the momentum of the game towards Sunrisers Hyderabad. Umran also dismissed Daniel Sams and Tilak Verma in a single over itself to push MI on the backfoot. Tristan Stubbs was got run out on 2 runs after a misunderstanding with Tim David. Mumbai needed 45 runs in the last three overs to win.

David smashed Natrajan for four monstrous sixes in the 18th over. He was dismissed run out on the last ball of this over. He played an impactful knock of 46 runs in 18 balls. Later, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a wicket maiden in the 19th over of the run chase in a pressure situation to seal the match for SRH. He bowled some nail pointing Yorkers in the 19th over.

Rahul Tripathi’s outstanding knock propel SRH to 193 runs

 

 

After being invited to bat first, SRH lost the early wicket of Abhishek Sharma who was in great form. Priyam Garg who was playing his first match of IPL 2022, played an impactful knock of 42 runs in 26 balls. Rahul Tripathi brought back the momentum towards SRH with his brilliant counterattacking knock.

Tripathi played a breathtaking knock of 76 runs in 44 balls. He smashed nine fours and three sixes in his innings. Later, Nicholas Pooran too joined the party and scored 38 runs in 22 balls to help Sunrisers Hyderabad post a great total of 193 runs. Ramandeep Singh was the best bowler for Mumbai Indians in this match.
