Royal Challengers Bengaluru Director of Cricket Mo Bobat has confirmed that Yash Dayal will miss the entire Indian Premier League 2026 due to a “personal situation.” The left-arm fast bowler had been retained by the team before the auction but hasn’t played any competitive cricket since the IPL 2025 final.
After RCB’s title win last season, Dayal got caught up in serious controversy. A woman from Ghaziabad filed a police complaint accusing him of sexual harassment and exploitation on the promise of marriage. In response, Dayal also filed a complaint, alleging that the woman had stolen from him.
The situation became more serious when another case was filed in Jaipur. A 17-year-old girl accused him of rape, claiming he promised to help her cricket career. Following this, a case was registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Before RCB’s IPL 2026 opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Bobat spoke about the situation and confirmed Dayal’s unavailability.
“He’s going through a personal situation. He remains under contract. It was decided in his best interest,” he said (via Cricbuzz).
Because of the serious legal cases and multiple allegations against him, the Uttar Pradesh T20 League suspended the player for the 2025 season in August 2025.
No Yash Dayal? RCB Likely to Rely on Rasikh Dar, Mangesh Yadav, Abhinandan Singh
Royal Challengers Bengaluru were already unsure about Yash Dayal’s availability even before the IPL 2026 auction, so they were thinking about picking a backup option for him.
“An Indian pace bowler, because we are concerned about Yash’s availability. So that pace bowler, could be a starter,” Mo Bobat had told skipper Rajat Patidar in an auction planning video released by RCB.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru bought left-arm fast bowler Mangesh Yadav for ₹5.20 crore at the auction. They also have other options like Rasikh Dar and Abhinandan Singh, who impressed in a recent RCB practice match in Bengaluru.
