A bomb went off among the fans sitting in the stands, as per the reports. The players from both teams were rushed inside a bunker as soon as the incident took place.

A video from the incident has gone viral on social media, which shows the moments following the blast. The spectators were seen rushing to safety as the situation turned chaotic. Players and foreign citizens were not harmed: Nasib Khan Zadran

The blast at the Alokozay Kabul International Cricket Ground comes just two days after an explosion near the gate of Gurdwara Karte Parwan in Kabul. The executive officer of the Afghanistan Cricket Board, Nasib Khan Zadran was also quoted saying as reported by DNA, that the explosion took place in the stands.

Zadran added that the players, cricket staff, and foreign citizens were not harmed. As per reports, officials from the United Nations were also present at the stadium when the attack happened. It appears that at least four have been injured in the blast. However, the number is likely to be higher once an official update is provided by the board.

The Shpageeza Cricket League was established by the Afghanistan Cricket Board in 2013. It is based on an IPL-like model of the professional T20 league. In the inaugural season, five teams featured, with the Speenghar Tigers winning the maiden edition. Later, three more teams were added to the tournament by the board.
