Team India skipper Rohit Sharma’s batting masterclass was on display during the first Test against Australia at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He led the team from the front, slamming a century to take India past Australia’s total in the first innings. With this century, Rohit Sharma brought up his ninth three-figure score in Test cricket for India.
Team India bowled Australia out for 177 runs on day one of the Test, after losing the toss. In response, Rohit Sharma got the team off to a great start, taking advantage of the loose deliveries. He brought up his half-century off just 66 deliveries on the first day. The Indian skipper continued to be a solid force on the second day as well. With wickets tumbling from one end, he kept the other end strong.
In the sixty-third over, Rohit Shama stepped out and played an inside-out shot, which raced to the boundary, clearing the in-field. This brought up the three-figure mark, his first against Australia in Tests. It was also his first century for India in Test cricket as a captain. His knock left the Twitterati impressed, who lauded the right-hander’s effort.
Let’s take a look at how Twitterati reacted to Rohit Sharma’s century:
What a mature and beautiful 100 @ImRo45 ❤️
Patience on a tough track, waited & went after the bad balls, backed himself with his pull shot, didn’t take any unnecessary risks. Perfect master class of what a test 100 should look like!#RohitSharma𓃵 #INDvsAUS #BGT2023 pic.twitter.com/p8UAMIJaRd— Saiyami Kher (@SaiyamiKher) February 10, 2023
