Brad Haddin Reveals Ways How Rishabh Pant Can Get Back To The Indian Team

Rishabh Pant

Team India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has struggled in the early part of 2020 losing his place in the limited-overs. As he continues to pave his way back, former Australia wicket-keeper Brad Haddin has advised him to create his own identity to survive in international cricket.

Pant bursts onto the international circuit with a lot of expectation and was tipped as the successor of the legendary MS Dhoni. However, the bubble has bursts soon as Rishabh Pant continued to struggle with the bat which also impacted his wicket-keeping.

Meanwhile, at the start of 2020, Rishabh Pant lost his place in the playing eleven across formats. While the management recalled Wriddhiman Saha for the home Test series, the Delhi lad lost his place in the limited-overs to KL Rahul, who was transformed into a makeshift wicket-keeper to slot into the playing XI.

However, Pant earned a recall in the playing eleven during the two-match Test series in New Zealand but failed to deliver. And as his struggles keep extending, Brad Haddin has come up with some words of wisdom for the India youngster.

“Rishabh Pant should be him. That’s how he’s going to create his identity. He’s got to be himself,” Haddin was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

You bring your own style to the team. When I first got my opportunity to play Test cricket, I couldn’t try to be an Adam Gilchrist or Ian Healy. I had to bring my own unique style to the game. One of the challenges here is not trying to be someone you’re not and just be true to yourself,” he added.

Rishabh Pant’s main aim will now be to find his place back in the limited-overs side with the ICC T20 World Cup lined up later this year in Australia. The Virat Kohli-led Indian side will be keen to lift the title after missing out on the ICC World Cup last year.
