Former Australian pacer Brett Lee has backed India to win at The Gabba when they face Australia in the fourth Test at the venue. Though it is Australia’s fortress, Lee has backed India to get the better of their opponents. India head into this Test match as the more confident of the two teams having earned a well-deserved draw in the third Test at the SCG. Ravichandran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari defied Australia as they took body blows but yet stood still to hand India a draw to keep them alive in the series.

Speaking to Fox Sports, Brett Lee said a win at the venue won’t be a ‘miracle’ for the Indians. They have not won at the venue in the six games they have played at this venue.

India Wining At The Gabba Is a Real Possibility: Brett Lee

“I don’t think a win at the Gabba is a miracle (for India), I think it’s a real possibility, especially if Australia are a couple short in their batting lineup. The only thing that’s going to hurt India is their lack of options to choose from. A couple of their gun bowlers are gone, a couple of batsmen are out with injury as well,” said Brett Lee.

Team India have a number of injury concerns as they head into Australis’s fortress. They have all their major bowlers ruled out of the fourth Test with Jasprit Bumrah, the latest to join the list. This means Mohammad Siraj and Navdeep Saini will lead India’s pace attack with Shardul Thakur likely to play as the third seamer.

Meanwhile. Brett Lee said that the wobbly Australian top-order can help India get an early advantage into the Test match. Will Pucovski had been ruled out of the fourth Test, while David Warner looked out of form in the SCG Test on his return. Joe Burns and Matthew Wade both of whom were tried earlier in the series as openers could not do the given job.

“The Australian bowlers are all fully fit, so I’m going to tip Australia is going to go well at the Gabba providing we have Pucovski and David Warner at the top of the order. If we don’t, then India can definitely come back in and are a chance to beat Australia. Otherwise we are potentially looking at two different openers at the Gabba. If that’s the case, then I’d have to say the tide turns and India would have to be favourites,” said Brett Lee.
