There have been a lot of debates in recent times over the best batsman of the current generation. From Virat Kohli to Steve Smith to Babar Azam, many names have come up during these debates. Meanwhile, legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara, who is running the clock back plying his trade in the Road Safety World Series, recently revealed his candidate for the best batsman at present.
As the famous proverb says 'class is permanent but form is temporary', the Prince of Trinidad has not lost his touch despite hanging his boots many years ago. Recently, he took part in the Bushfire Cricket Bash in Australia where he smashed Andrew Symonds down the line. Brian Lara also looked good in the opening game of Road Safety World Series. And the southpaw, who is a firm believer of modern-day cricket has named KL Rahul as the best batsman of the current era.

“I follow the West Indies as you know. They did pretty well in Sri Lanka in the T20 version of the game. Around the world, there are so many amazing batsmen to look at. There is Steve Smith, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma. My favourite is KL Rahul.” Lara said as quoted by Sportstar.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul has been in the best of form in recent times knocking runs consistently. Notably, after taking up the wicket-keeping duties in the limited-overs, the batsman from Karnataka has grown in confidence. In the recent series against New Zealand, Rahul was on spot leading his side's batting unit against some of the best in the business.
However, surprisingly, Rahul was left out of the two-match Test series against the Kiwis. He has once again returned to the squad for the three-match One-Day Internationals for the series against South Africa starting from March 12 in Dharamsala.
