The 23-year-old was injured during the second Test against South Africa at Melbourne Cricket Ground and was ruled out of the third Test. According to reports, the player will be unable to bowl before April 13. Green, however, dismissed all speculation about his availability for IPL 2023, stating that he is 100% available for both skill sets in the IPL.
“No, that’s [reports] not correct. I’ve heard about this for a quite a while now I think. I don’t know where it’s come from. I’ve heard that I’m 100 percent available for both skill sets in the IPL at the start, so yeah, I’m not too sure where that’s kind of come from,” Cameron Green told SEN Sportsday WA.
Green acknowledged that the INR 17.5 crore price tag raises a lot of expectations, which he hopes to repay with his performances. “Obviously, it [the auction] went really well, but I think at the same time you want to go out there and perform and kind of repay the faith they showed you,” Green explained.
“Obviously my first priority is the Test Series that’s beforehand” – Cameron Green
However, the Australian was unsure about his availability for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which begins on February 9 in India. Green took five wickets in the first innings of the second Test against South Africa before smashing a fifty in the second innings despite a finger injury.
“Obviously my first priority is the Test Series that’s beforehand. I think me and Starcy (Mitchell Starc) are maybe touch and go for that first one but obviously we’ll give ourselves the best chance,” Green added.
Cameron Green had re-signed with the Perth Scorchers in this edition of the Big Bash League but due to his injury on his finger, he will be unable to wear the orange jersey.
