A lot of buzz has been going around with the international comeback of MS Dhoni. With ICC postponing the T20 World Cup 2020, the future looks bleaker. Former India opener and commentator Aakash Chopra recently shed light on the possible comeback of MS Dhoni.

Meanwhile, the former India skipper has been on a sabbatical since the World Cup 2019. India lost to New Zealand in a rain-marred semifinal and since then the veteran cricketer has sidelined himself from international cricket.

Dhoni doesn’t need IPL to comeback – Aakash Chopra

Many were of the view that Dhoni will back himself in the IPL to make a come back in the Indian team. However, Aakash Chopra reckons MS Dhoni doesn’t need the T20 league to return considering the weightage he brings to Indian cricket.

“When it comes to MS Dhoni, only he knows. There is nothing to talk about his form, because he hasn’t played for a year now and what to say about form? I don’t think his comeback is dependent on IPL,” Chopra said in his YouTube show Aakash Vani.

“If he wants to play and makes himself available and India wants to pick him, then he will be fine, he will be absolutely fine,” he added.

On the other hand, AB de Villiers was likely to come out of his retirement to feature in the T20 World Cup 2020. But now that ICC has postponed the mega event, it is likely that the star batsman will come back in international cricket.

Aakash Chopra feels AB de Villiers is still good to play international cricket. Recently, de Villiers said that he will assess his performance in the IPL and then take a call.

“ABD’s form is still very good. His whole comeback has been facilitated. Sooner than later, you will see him playing again. If the T20 World Cup happens this year, you can see him (playing for South Africa) this year, or if it happens in 2021, then next year. I don’t think there is any problem. ABD, no doubt, he will be playing international cricket sooner than later,” said Chopra in the video.
