Cape Town To Host Third India-South Africa Test In 2022

India will be travelling to South Africa for a series comprising of three Tests, 3 ODIs and 4 T20Is. As per reports in Cricbuzz, BCCI is looking to send a squad of 60 players for the series. The board is looking to send a mix of players of young and experienced players. The Syed Mushtaq Ali, India’s domestic T20 tournament is on at the moment and players are thriving to perform for a place in the big squad. 

Meanwhile, the venue for the third Test which will be played between January 3 to 7 is finalised. Cape Town is all set to host the Test match after their was some doubts over the venue. The rest of the schedule remains the same with Johannesburg and Centurion hosting the first two Tests. 

India To Tour South Africa For Full Fledged Tour

The Paarl hosts the first ODI with teams returning to Cape Town for the next two ODIs followed by the first two T20Is. The final two T20Is will be again played in Paarl, to sum up the tour.

 

“CSA is excited to welcome India back to South Africa, which also significantly marks the 30th anniversary of South Africa’s first tour to India after re-entry into International Cricket in 1991. This tour affirms our unique relationship with the BCCI,” Graeme Smith, CSA’s Director of Cricket, said.

“This tour comes at a fitting moment when Cricket South Africa, together with the people of the world celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s 152nd birthday. We are indeed indebted to India for its support to our cricket efforts over the years. We are looking forward to hosting our guests for what promises to be nail-biting on-field encounters,” CSA Acting Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki said.

The final squad will be chosen on a later date from the list of 60 players which has been submitted by the BCCI. India will be hosting New Zealand shortly after the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 for three T20Is and a two-match Test series. And just after hosting Black Caps, the players will be flying to South Africa for a full-fledged series against the hosts.
