The stormy start of Bangladesh after opting to bat first in the 2nd match of the Champions Trophy 2025 against India was not a delightful occurrence. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Soumya Sarkar, the top batsmen, missed out on glory as they fell for cheap scores within just the first two overs. This was obviously going to be a tough day for Bangladesh.

Team India pacer Harshit Rana played a major role in sending down the Bangladeshi skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto. Rana gave Shanto a send-off, celebrating his wicket by giving a flying kiss as he walked off the field. Such confident behaviour from Rana only set up India to dominate this match. On the low side of the cut, Shanto’s duck added more problems into Bangladeshi coffers, making it very hard to recover from it.

And so, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium witnessed a string of such dominance from Team India, while Narahi’s show was important event or highlight during their great run. Rana’s celebration after dismissing Shanto so well showed his confidence and enthusiasm, something clearly evident throughout all succeeding phases of the game. And with this strong start, India is ready to take charge of the match and win it.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed for a duck in the second over, when Harshit Rana struck for India early. Shanto went for an expansive drive, which was pitched full and outside off, but didn’t keep it down, and Kohli at cover-point took a sharp catch. Rana celebrated the wicket with a flying kiss, and matters just got worse for the Bangladesh team.

With figures of one for 15 in four overs, he completed his first spell. The Bangladesh team was in tatters, with five wickets falling for a mere 35 runs in 8.3 overs against the Indian bowling attack. Shami grabbed two wickets and Axar Patel struck twice in the same over, inflicting further damage on the already-tumbling Bangladesh side.

With Bangladesh’s top-order batsmen already out of contention, the task ahead for the rest of the team is to somehow put together a respectable score against the Indian batters. The Indian bowlers have remained right on their tail, and it will be interesting to see how the Bangladesh team now faces them.
