Chennai Super Kings Release 8 Players Ahead Of IPL 2024 Mini-Auction

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) announced its final released and retention list of players on Sunday, November 26 ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction. The auction is set to take place on December 19 in Dubai. The defending champions will be led by wicket-keeper batter Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the upcoming season.

The Chennai Super Kings have released eight players from their squad before the auction. Ben Stokes, who is also part of the released list has opted out of the upcoming edition. Meanwhile, Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement last season, following their title win. Young pacer Akash Singh has also been released by the team. He took six wickets last season in five games, at an economy rate of 9.89. The overseas released players include Kyle Jamieson, Sisanda Magala and Dwaine Pretorius. K Bhagath Varma and Subhranshu Senapati are the other players who will be part of the auction pool.

Chennai Super Kings have retained 19 players for the upcoming season. They will enter the 2024 Indian Premier League auctions with a purse of 32.1 crores, having released eight players. They will be looking to fill the remaining eight spots. The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led team might eye an overseas pacer, like Gerald Coetzee at the auctions. They might also go for Manish Pandey to fill Ambati Rayudu’s place in the team.
