Chennai Super Kings are one of the most consistent teams in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, they have ‘run out of juice’ in the ongoing season and toil in the eighth spot in the points table. They have managed only three wins from 10 games and have failed to live up to their expectations.

Moreover, the absence of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh – who pulled out of IPL 2020, also didn’t bode well with their squad who looked completely out of socks on their batting front. Veteran all-rounder Shane Watson has also not been in the best of form with the bat.

Chennai Super Kings to take some bold decisions

While there remains a mathematical chance of qualifying for the playoffs, another defeat will put the entire equation out of context for Chennai Super Kings. They have failed to finish games despite starting well and the franchise is keen to work on their attacking prowess to come back with a bang in the next season.

As per reports in InsideSport, the management is likely to show doors to a number of cricketers including Kedar Jadhav, who has been an utter disappointment in IPL 2020. Meanwhile, there have been questions on MS Dhoni’s captaincy for backing Jadhav despite repetitive failures.

“See as Fleming has said, lot of chinks in the armour has been exposed this time. Some tough calls surely will be taken. The only issue is there is little time between now and the next edition”, a source was quoted as saying in the report.

What lies ahead for MS Dhoni?

Meanwhile, after MS Dhoni’s lack of spark in youngsters comment, the management is keen to inject more young blood in the squad ahead of the next season. The likes of Shane Watson, Piyush Chawla, Kedar Jadhav, Imran Tahir could also be shown the door while Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh are already out of their 3-year contracts.

On the other hand, MS Dhoni has also failed to be his usual self. Lack of action in the last season might be a reason for his dip in form which has seen many question his continuity in the T20 league. However, reports suggest that he might play one more IPL and will decide on his future according to his form.
