A day after being left out of India’s Test squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, Cheteshwar Pujara posted a video of his batting on Twitter along with a brief message.
Several fans and experts criticized the selectors for singling out the veteran for the failures of Indian batters in the WTC final after Pujara’s exclusion sparked a heated debate among fans and experts.
Pujara’s performance in the game was subpar. The right-handed batter was seen practicing a number of swings at the crease in the social media post he shared. With his Twitter post, he only included two emojis.

Prior to Pujara’s exclusion from the team, legendary Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar spoke out.
“Why was he dropped, and why was he the scapegoat for our batting woes? He has been a devoted worker for Indian cricket. A trustworthy, discreet employee. A devoted and successful achiever. However, you drop him because he lacks the millions of platform followers who would protest if he were to be dropped.”
It’s impossible to comprehend that. Because there is no longer any media interaction with the chairman of the selection committee, I am unsure of the criteria for dropping him and keeping the others who failed, Gavaskar said in an interview.
“He has been playing cricket in the country. He has thus experienced a lot of red-call cricket and is familiar with its rules. Age should not be a consideration in baseball today because players can continue to play until they are 39 to 40 years old as long as they are scoring runs.”
“The batting, outside of (Ajinkya) Rahane, was a total disaster. The selectors will have to provide an explanation for why Pujara has been made the fall guy, he continued”
